Frieren is a great watch, whether you like the fantasy genre or not.
The character design is a return to the simple face styling of Lerche's Carnival Phantasm (known by some as "advanced potato face") which I think is nice to look at, while the art style of the background is fittingly detailed.

If you're a fan of adventure/horror media such as the STALKER games or the SCP universe, you're likely going to love Otherside Picnic. Otherwise, chances are it'll be a mildly entertaining but unmemorable show for you.
I watched the anime first, liked it enough to read what has been translated of the light novels, then re-watched the anime. Aside from shifting around a couple chapters with some necessary plot modifications, the anime was a close adaptation of the first two volumes of the light novels. I went into this show with moderate expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. Was expecting the CG battles to be much worse, but the studio pulled it off well, to the point where they were one of the most enjoyable parts of the show.
The plot was on the better side of typical LN fare, but still not for those who prefer "big brained" shows. I liked that a major element of the early episodes was Kei and Gripen working around each other's limitations, and also that despite the cast of cute girl characters it didn't really turn into a harem show.
