Kim Jung Gi was a South Korean illustrator, cartoonist, and manhwa artist. He was famous for his large, highly detailed illustrations, often drawn only from memory.

Whilst in kindergarten, he was inspired to become an artist after seeing an illustration from Akira Toriyama's Dr. Slump. He studied Art & Design at Dong-Eui university in Busan, and afterwards served in the Republic of Korea Army for two years. He stated that his time in the army allowed him to build a strong visual memory of a wide array of weapons, uniforms and military vehicles, which he often depicted in his illustrations.

His first published work was titled 'Funny Funny' and ran in Young Jump from 2002 to 2003. However, he would become known mostly for his sketch collections and live drawing demonstrations, which he exhibited all over the world.

Kim Jung Gi died in Paris of a heart attack on 3 October 2022. He was aged 47.
