The official website of the Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari (The Rising of the Shield Hero) anime series revealed a pair of cast and a visual (pictured) for the fourth season on Tuesday. The new season is scheduled to premiere in July 2025.

Voice actors Takeo Ootsuka (Kusuriya no Hitorigoto) and Jirou Saitou (Sousou no Frieren) are joining the cast as Werner and Jaralis, respectively.

Tate no Yuusha no Nariagari adapts Yusagi Aneko's adventure fantasy light novel of the same title, which originally launched on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in October 2012. Kadokawa began printing the novel with illustrations by Seira Minami the following August. The 22nd volume was released in June 2019. The series has a cumulative 13 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

Kyu Aiya began serializing a manga adaptation in Comic Flapper in February 2014. Kadokawa shipped the 27th volume on February 21.

One Peace Book licensed both the light novel and manga in English in 2015. The 22nd light novel volume went on sale in December 2021, and the 23rd manga volume was released on January 7.

Alo the main LN series is on hiatus hell for years, if not in this, the next one is gonna be the last season. For a REALLy good time
This is what worries me more, and the plot was done a long time ago with the WN, the author surely had more than enough time to polish it and finish the LN, but I have the impression he doesn't give a shit no more.

@Fabris The next after that?

@RobertBobert It stopped being geniunely good after episode 4 S1 (novel volume 1).

After Episode 20 S1 (volume 4), there was no reason to even follow this plot, the main conflict hook was solved, and theauthor was just adding filler content, filler chars, filler worldbuilding, filler extra-haremmetes...

It's true that the story hasn't really found its footing since season 1, but I'm not saying the anime is bad, but I hope it pulls itself together for next season.

Looking foward for this, yeah this is become as generic as possible in of the story-wise and become predictably dull (Naofumi and most of main cast from s1 is already established character, that why the shift turned into worldbuild and plot progression.....which is your average fantasy world anime plot nowdays) but i kinda still enjoyed it.

@PurpleMagic I cannot call myself a big fan of the franchise. But its somewhat sad to see as a franchise quickly disappeared from the mainstream because of the weak second and third season.

@RobertBobert Truth I've got no hope for this season, its been hammered with the 2nd and 3rd season that anime companies don't care about this property anymore. Nothing else so far but bad adaptations to a story that's getting more and more generic as it goes.

It seems to me or the hype of this title dies more and more with every new season?

A question for all the superior beings who are reading the source material: does it actually go anywhere further, or is the author just making the story up on the fly solely because the franchise is popular? Like, S1 was pretty annoying but it actually felt like there’s a purpose, whereas S2 and S3 felt more like Isekai-ish Slice of Life interrupted with fights from time to time.

@HeroVladimir93 i heard the adaptation was a mess of cut content

Hopefully, it will be better than seasons 2 and 3, but let's face it, that's not a high bar to clear.
