'Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon' 2nd Season Reveals New Cast, Staff for Winter 2025

The official website of the Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon (My Happy Marriage) television anime revealed three new cast, new staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and teaser promo for the second season on Monday. The second season adapting Akumi Agitogi's historical fantasy novel will begin airing in January 2025. Netflix and other platforms will stream the anime.

Masayuki Kojima (Made in Abyss) is joining Takehiro Kubota (Id:Invaded assistant director) to co-direct the second at Kinema Citrus. Kuniyuki Itou (Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon chief animation director) is now the sub-character designer.

Ami Satou (22/7 script) is handling the series composition and script with Minori Hashiba, Fuuka Ishii (Ousama Ranking), and Momoka Toyoda (Shadows House).

Other key returning staff include character designer Shouko Yasuda (Jitsu wa Ore, Saikyou deshita?) and music composer Evan Call (Sousou no Frieren).

The first season aired in 12 episodes in Summer 2023, with Netflix simulcasting the anime worldwide. An original anime episode was bundled with the eighth light novel volume on March 15.

Agitogi began penning the fantasy romance novel, also known as Watakon, on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2018. Kadokawa began printing the title with illustrations by Tsukiho Tsukioka in January 2019 and released the eighth volume on March 15. Watakon has a cumulative 9 million copies of its volume in circulation.

Rito Kousaka began drawing a manga adaptation on the Gangan Online web magazine in December 2018. Square Enix released the fifth volume on July 11.

Yen Press and Square Enix licensed the light novel and manga adaptation in English in June and July in 2021, respectively. The seventh light novel volume shipped on August 20. The fourth manga volume was released last September.

I wonder in what direction the story will head on now that the core drama is resolved. Prolly more drama somehow.

@RobertBobert Yes, they will. According to my friend who has read the light novels, first season adapted first volume and around 90% of second volume. The OVA adapts remaining last pages of the second volume of LN.

@malvarez1 They did months ago. That OVA is hard canon and it's like the 13th episode of first season.

Great news. I didn't think I'd enjoy this anime as much as I did. I can't wait to see the next season!
