The Juju Fest 2024 event announced a compilation movie of Jujutsu Kaisen 2nd Season's Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu-hen (Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc) and revealed a visual (pictured) on Sunday. The movie is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

The first anime season aired in 24 episodes in Fall 2020 while the second premiered in Summer 2023. Crunchyroll simulcast both seasons worldwide, excluding Asia.

Jujutsu Kaisen adapts Akutami Gege's supernatural action manga, which began in Weekly Shounen Jump in March 2018 and will end on September 30. Shueisha shipped the 27th volume on July 4, with the 28th volume scheduled to be released on October. The manga has a cumulative 90 million copies of its volumes in circulation, including digital editions.

Akutami serialized the original Jujutsu Kaisen 0 prequel manga in Jump GIGA from April to July in 2017. Shueisha published the manga as volume zero the following December. VIZ Media released the volume in English under the title Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High in January 2021.

VIZ Media simulpubs the manga digitally with the Japanese release through its Shounen Jump service and shipped the 23rd volume on August 20. Shueisha's Manga Plus platform also began simulpublishing the manga in English in January 2019.

At least the poor animators won't have to work much for this. Kinda weird they're skipping the whole first season...but this arc is the easiest to abridge.

@nirererin Yeah well..It was gunna happen eventually. It only makes sense they'd use the property that'd get them the most profit as a way to "hold people over" until the next season. Still not as bad as Ufotable not even doing another tv season and making people wait for multiple movies to finish Demon Slayer though.

@nirererin You clearly haven't been around long if you think this is something only they've done...Anything to shit on MAPPA though, right?

No, most of the studios done this kind of completion movie. But it is new for MAPPA, lol

Compilation movies isn't something new. Let's them earn some money for their hard work.

Meh...There's zero reason to ever watch these sorts of things unless they add previously unaired scenes. And even then, I'd argue it's not worth it.

@Flying_Hawlucha Ah yes, AOT, the inventor of the concept of compilation movies.

Seems as much as relevant as the whole final arc of the series, but hey, who hates easy money.

I know MAPPA rightfully receives backlash, but it's just a compilation movie. This is nothing special, other anime do this all the time.

We will be there. Let the other bozos cry about it.

How lacklustre and boring just copying attack on titan at this point

@nirererin Considering some of Gege's script decisions, to put it mildly, the similarities between the franchises are really visible.

Aug 25, 11:32 AM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert lol it makes sense... they already started to milking it just like AOT

Aug 25, 11:27 AM by nirererin

@nirererin I have a feeling that MAPPA is now much more excited and motivated by this franchise than the author himself.

Aug 25, 10:54 AM by RobertBobert

Well, Mappa is living up to our expectations lmao.

compilation movies are dirt cheap to produce so easy money for the owners
