Mikoto Yamaguchi and Yuuki Satou's Tomodachi Game (Friends Games) manga ended in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine's September issue on Thursday. The issue, concluding the manga's over ten and a half-year serialization, featured it on the opening color page (pictured above).

Yamaguchi and Satou began serializing the psychological survival manga in Bessatsu Shounen Magazine in December 2013. Kodansha published the 25th volume on May 9, with the 26th and final volume scheduled for an October 8 release. Tomodachi Game has a cumulative 6 million copies of its volumes in circulation.

A television anime produced by Okuruto Noboru aired in 12 episodes on NTV's AnichU programming block in Spring 2022. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with subtitles and later with an English dub.

Tomodachi Game was adapted into a four-episode drama series in April 2017, followed by an eight-episode series in July 2022. A two-part live-action movie premiered in Japan in June and September 2017.

Kodansha's K Manga platform simulpublishes it in English. The manga has also been published in multiple foreign languages, including Spanish and Polish.

Synopsis
Yuuichi Katagiri has battled financial hardships his whole life but has learned to stay content and positive thanks to his close circle of friends. To keep a promise he made to them, Yuuichi saves up enough money to join them on the school trip. But when the gathered money mysteriously goes missing, suspicion falls on two of Yuuichi's friends: Shiho Sawaragi and Makoto Shibe, who were in charge of collecting the payments. Although innocent, Shiho and Makoto take responsibility for the failure to protect the money when no one else comes forward.

A few days later, Yuuichi and his friends receive mysterious letters which trick each of them into meeting up. Upon arrival, they are ambushed and knocked unconscious. They wake up in a mysterious room in the presence of "Manabu-kun," a character from a controversial children's show that stopped airing due to its malicious content. He informs the group that one of them indirectly gathered them together in order to settle a large debt. They are to play a "friendship game": a series of games that will test the strength of their bond and trust in each other. As the group's faith wavers due to the growing number of secrets and betrayals, Yuuichi must figure out who of his "friends" he can actually trust and ultimately discover the identity of the traitor. @CrunchyCrobat This is an eternal conversation. People criticize characters who win all the time, but at the same time get angry when the character loses and takes a lot of effort to win. It seems to me that in reality these are simply attempts to rationalize subjective sympathy or dislike for this or that character.

@Bard_Eren ikr why do people hate it so much for no reason, sure we know the main character always wins, but ain't that almost all stories? What's so wrong with that, personally, it's my #2 favorite manga ever (first one being vagabond with no competetion), and it is also what got me into reading mangas so it's always gonna be a special one for me too, can't wait for the epilogue
