Project Sekai: Colorful Stage! feat. Hatsune Miku, based on Crypton Future Media's vocaloid software, is a smartphone rhythm game developed by Colorful Palette and published by Sega. It is a spin-off of Sega's Hatsune Miku: Project Diva rhythm game series. The smartphone game was released in Japan for Android and iOS in September 2020, with the worldwide and other versions releasing in the following years.

Scooter Films produced a 10-episode mini-anime series titled Petit Seka that premiered between January and March 2022. P.A. Works also produced a 5-episode net anime titled Journey to Bloom between September and October 2023 to commemorate the game's third anniversary.

Synopsis
Set in modern day Shibuya, Project Sekai Movie: Kowareta Sekai to Utaenai Miku centers on Ichika Hoshino, a high school girl and street musician who encounters an unknown version of Hatsune Miku after hearing a Miku song that she'd never heard before in a CD store. Ichika learns that this version of Miku is having trouble reaching people with her songs, so together they team up to try to touch the hearts of their audience through music. @Nachtwandler_21 They have too many shows in these six months and I joked that it was like they were trying to become the new MAPPA. It's not that deep, you don't need to get into a defensive position, seriously.

@RobertBobert comparing P.A. Works to MAPPA is dumb. They have enough staff to do 2 projects at once, which means up to 4 per year considering average anime cour takes 6 months to produce. They made 3 total this year and this movie sceduled for January. All of their currently airing shows were made before this season started. So they were made a previously and just happened to air this season because production comitees decided so. While they had complaints of not paying in-betweeners enough a few years ago, they rarelly have issues with sceduling and are not known overworking their staff.

That's exciting news! The Project Sekai movie sounds intriguing with its original story and impressive cast.

On one hand, yay, finally a real Miku anime, and one who is not Black Rock Shooter.

On the other hand, this is like, 10 to 12 years to late, man. At very least.

@Hoppy

right? considering Miku's basically been a PIONEER in anime internet culture for over 15 years

didn't they say they were gonna make one like 4-5 years ago? this doesn't sound like what i heard

@juliayousoro I don't know how they will combine these two things in one film. Usually, all gacha anime focus only on certain characters, giving others cameos.

But why? Of all the mainstream gachas, Sekai seems to have the least amount of content outside of the game and official music. Which I find a bit unfair, even though Sekai's fandom has a slightly more controversial reputation than Love Live and Bandori.

This looks really good.

@juliayousoro Yep, it was those that I referenced in the post too and have been obsessed with them since.

Jul 29, 2024 2:21 PM by PixiePuffer

@RobertBobert
probably miku and ichika(?) since those two are the most highlighted in the sypnosis and because it literally says "centers on Ichika Hoshino"
everyone else should get a good amount of screentime too though

also i dont think project sekai needs a tv anime
the optimal way to experience the story is in the game

Jul 29, 2024 1:35 PM by juliayousoro

@CocoaGalaxy original story based on a game

Jul 29, 2024 1:33 PM by juliayousoro

@PixiePuffer they had a series of small short recaps of the main stories! its called journey to bloom
i think its better for them to have done that rather than have stretched them all out for a normal size tv anime

Jul 29, 2024 1:32 PM by juliayousoro

oooooooh Miku from Jashin-chan Dropkick getting her own anime! I liked the character, glad they're making a spin-off centered around her!

Jul 29, 2024 12:47 PM by Kikugi

Quite hyped since ive been following the game for around half a year now. Tbh, I would have expected them to do the main story first, but a completely original story? Hell yeah. I just want to see them move lol.

And considering its the same studio that did the digest animations, I am looking forward to how it looks too

Jul 29, 2024 12:41 PM by PixiePuffer

I was just thinking recently how on earth is there no miku anime. Hmm

January isnt that far off

The cast list is ridiculously huge though, how are they going to fit this many in just one movie?

Kinda confused, so is it or is it not a original based on a game?

Jul 29, 2024 12:31 PM by CocoaGalaxy

@Hoppy If I remember the franchise correctly, she's more of a side character here.

Jul 29, 2024 11:36 AM by RobertBobert

@EcchiGodMamster

Finally, we get Miku in a Vocaloid anime after almost decades of not having such.

HATSUNE MIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Jul 29, 2024 11:21 AM by EcchiGodMamster

PAWORK seems to really wants to become the next MAPPA in terms of overworking. Also, a movie right away? Without any full-fledged TV show? Who will be the protagonist? Or are they going to make a salad of different units?
