The 13th and final episode of the Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei 3rd Season (The Irregular at Magic High School Season 3) television anime announced an anime movie adaptation of the Yotsuba Keishou-hen (Yotsuba Succession Arc) on Saturday, revealing a teaser visual (pictured).

Produced by 8bit, the 13-episode television anime premiered on April 5. Crunchyroll streamed the anime with English subtitles.

Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei adapts Tsutomu Satou's action sci-fi light novel, which began on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in 2008. Kadokawa began releasing the title under its Dengeki Bunko label with illustrations by Kana Ishida in July 2011 and published the 32nd and final volume in September 2020. Satou launched the Magian Company sequel light novel the following month. Kadokawa shipped the eighth volume on May 10. Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei has a cumulative 25 million copies of its volumes in print.

Yen Press licensed the light novel in English in 2015 and published the 22nd volume on May 21.

The first anime season produced by Madhouse aired in 26 episodes in Spring 2014. The Hoshi wo Yobu Shoujo (The Girl Who Summons The Stars) anime movie by 8bit opened in Japan in June 2017. The Raihousha-hen (Visitor Arc) television anime premiered in Fall 2020, followed by the Tsuioku-hen (Reminiscence Arc) prequel special in December 2021.

A television anime adaptation of Satou and Yu Mori's Mahouka Koukou no Yuutousei (The Honor at Magic High School) spin-off manga by animation studio Connect aired in Summer 2021.

@Mr_Bodewig ah I see, I thought you meant an actual like past flashback. I did feel like "what did she just... That comment came completely out of nowhere, wtf did I miss before" when she said that

@nightmare_kt That's the scene, you have the right one. It probably went completely unnoticed by anyone that hasn't read the novels but

@Mr_Bodewig Sorry, can you tell me which episode it is that they addressed the scene with a flashback? I think I kinda missed it. I only remember in ep12 Erika going

Honestly with how impactful this ark is in the overall story it makes sense to adapt it into a movie to skip the least amount of material possible.
Considering how in S2 they skipped the scene
even if they somewhat indirectly addressed the scene in S3 with a flahback. It takes away the deep shit she was about to be in that moment. I'm just glad the story is continuing as this practically confirms a S4 in the future because there's no way they're leaving the story alone after this ark.

@Comander-07 If this is what I'm thinking about, then volume 16.

Which volume of the LN is this arc? Just curious because 32 volumes seem a lot

Extremely good news but who knows when I will able to watch it in my country

@MegamiRem Really? I just wrote that I don't see the point of making this arc a separate film.

Really excited for this cause you know what.

They decided to put the most (in)famous arc into the film? But why, this is essentially just a bunch of hyped “what a twist!” followed by the start of Game of Thrones. I'm not sure it would make sense to show it separately in theaters. Or will it be as short as an adaptation of the flashback arc from Volume 8?
Man you really like exaggerating things for no reason.

a lot of animes have been milking some of their arcs as movies nowadays so I understand their choice. will be watching!!! hope the production goes over smoothly and cook like Tsuioku-hen.
