@Omarumba Ah, then I'll apologize. Sometimes I really forget that people can joke and take everything as statements. My bad.

@RobertBobert Oh, no no no, you misunderstand me. I mentioned Gushing as a joke. It's a good ecchi, but a mediocre show in its field. I'm sure it'll be forgotten by the end of the series. Madoka does not even compare :)

@Omarumba I mentioned Madoka because I thought you'd expect Gushing's popularity to be such that even regular shows in the genre would follow elements of it. Or did I misunderstand you?

@RobertBobert You know, comparing Madoka to Gushing over MG is extremely ridiculous. The former is a deconstruction of the genre by Urobuchi, which he was very fond of doing (Psychopath is a vivid proof of that) and a fetish of mahou-shoujo, which rather positions itself as an ecchi shoujo-ai. Totally two different levels. The first one you watch to marvel at the authorship and plot, and the second one to...well....
P.s. I don't know what Mahoutsukai ni Narenakatta Onnanoko no Hanashi will be, under the news of which you and I, my friend, had a wonderful conversation, but I honestly don't have much faith that it will be anything on the level of Madoka or Sailor Moon. I'm not a skeptic, but.... We'll see.

@Omarumba Well, all-female genres have always had a huge male and slash shipping fanbase, so a large number of MG shows of this kind is an expected phenomenon. It's like an all-male shonen-ish show for a female audience. But I don't think that a successful spin-off show will immediately change the rules even in the classic examples of the genre. At least, unless it's something like Madoka or the Sailor Moon you mentioned, who created the dark magical girl and the fighting magical girl squad trends, respectively.
Also, if you want to see the character designs without any details, then the header on the Blibli account indicates a pair.

@RobertBobert Yeah, Gushin over Magical Girls isn't so much a new concept as it is just a great etty set of fetishes with the pretense of magical girls. It's like taking Sailor Moon and giving it an 18+ rating and turning all the antagonists into sadistic women.

@Omarumba I think that Gushin over Magical Girls is more of an exception to the rule than a new concept for such shows. At least for now we are talking about the classic mahou shoujo based on a non LN novel.

Couldn't become a girl mage, but should I? How about a villain like Utena Hiiragi?
Judging by the teaser we are waiting for a colorful work, but I think you should watch it at your own risk.
