Grading systems and how each viewer, especially the reviewer, evaluates is different.
I give a final grade only after the work is completed, because even a bitter ending can completely overpower the sweet taste of the first opinion, spoiling the whole aftertaste. Therefore, even before the release of the last episode, I trust the overall assessment of the series to other people.
After the last episode is released, I grade the work on 10 parameters, each consisting of 10 points, where 10 points is the maximum.
The specifics of each parameter vary from work to work depending on genre, year of release, author, studio, and so on. My parameters:
1: Plot and Narrative - coherence of plot and author's thought. Originality. Simple viewer interest and maintaining it throughout the timeline.
2: Character development - gradual and logical growth of main characters, minor characters, depth of their disclosure.
3: Animation quality - detail, foreground and background elaboration, proper level of 3D/CGI animation, consistency of art style.
4: Audio - quality of soundtracks, sounds, openings and endings. I generally rate the entire soundtracks of the show.
5: World building - what genre the show is in and what world the story takes place in is very important here. I appreciate the realism of the world if it's slice of life, and regardless of the specifics I appreciate the elaboration of the world and all of its richness, knowledge, and rules.
6: Moral - Every author wants to convey something to the viewer/reader with their work. Even if the show is an "empty comedy" the author, in a good way, wants to give something to the audience.
7: Pacing of the narrative - a balance between fast and slow paced scenes to ensure a smooth and engaging viewing experience.
8: Emotional impact - how well the anime evokes emotion, whether through humor, drama, or other emotional elements. The next parameter is somewhat similar, but still I decided to give it a separate place, because the ability to evoke emotion in the viewer ≠ the show's ability to intelligently reveal.
9: Genre matching - a good comedy should make you laugh and a good drama should make you sad, a good detective should give you mysteries and a good fantasy should explain the mysteries, a good romance should make you fall in love and a good isekai should also make you fall in love.
10: Originality and innovation - whether the anime brings fresh ideas or unique approaches to the genre.
When you add up the scores for each parameter, it turns out that the maximum number a show can get is 100.
100 points is 10.0 - a score of 10 in MAL.
74 points is 7.4 - the score in MAL is 7.
If a show gets, for example, 45 points, that is 4.5, the score in MAL depends on which side it is closer to, worse or better. If to the worse side, the score will be 4, if to the better side, it will be 5.
I'm great man.... and I hope you're great too. and thanks sooo much for sending me a friend request. (oo kawaii koto😂) by the way I really am grateful.... and sorry for not reaching out to you earlier.... MAL's communication system just sucks.
