Hopefully this can recapture the charm of the original.

I am interested to see where it goes.

It looks great. This trailer emanates strongly with pre-Z energy, haha. I'm positive about Dragon Ball Daima. I feel it will be really fun to watch. What's more, original Dragon Ball vibes are always cool to see in this franchise, so that's another positive aspect of this show, in my opinion. Y'know, returning to the OG Dragon Ball atmosphere, but mixing it with crazy stuff that happened later on in the story.

@Ionliosite2 So eventually I'll have to watch Super before starting this? I'm already familiar with the Z storyline thanks to the games, but I'll have to watch Z or Kai first if that's important once I finish the last 20+ episodes of original later.

@RobertBobert Toriyama was said to be even more involved with this series than with Super, so yeah this is from him.

@Ionliosite2 Lord, don’t tell me that this was Akira Toriyama’s idea, and not the producers’ plan to develop the franchise supported by him.

Jan 29, 12:34 PM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert No? Super takes place after the Majin Boo Saga, the last arc of Z. They already explained in the annoucement that it was an evil ploy by the currently unnamed villains that turned Goku and the rest of the Z warriors into kids.

Jan 29, 12:32 PM by Ionliosite2

@Ionliosite2 But don't the events of Super take place parallel to the events of Z? And how will they explain Goku's return to his form in the first half of the manga?

Jan 29, 10:59 AM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert Super was a sequel, not a spin-off, and this one is also a sequel (very clearly takes place after Z from the promos).

Jan 29, 10:43 AM by Ionliosite2

@Ionliosite2 Another spin-off to the main story to artificially inject life into the plot again, as was the case with Super?

Jan 29, 10:12 AM by RobertBobert

@RobertBobert It's a new canon series, yes. From what we know, it's supposed to be a throwback to the OG Dragon Ball, with the presentation even calling it a "JRPG-like adventure".

With all the changes Dragon Ball has undergone in the past few decades, it's easy to forget that this was originally the story of a monkey boy who set out on a big journey, not to become the best fighter in the universe, but to find the seven mystical orbs that would reveal an amazing secret.

I'm probably reading too much into this new premise, but Daima looks to rediscover the original spirit of DBl, without the crazy power-scaling, the planet-destroying battles and the weird cosmology. Yeah, I know that lots of people love DB for those exact same reasons, but sometimes, you gotta go back to the spirit of that original story. If Star Trek can do it, so too can DB.

Also, Goku looks frickin' cute!

@senaen DBS manga: Am I a joke to you?

The age of Super is over. The age of Daima has began!

I might actually watch this if it has the spirit of the original DB. I hope it's not like one of those shitty comedy spin offs.

Jan 29, 1:25 AM by Dizzee

This won't be a chibi comedy show? Is it really a completely new DB anime?

Jan 29, 12:31 AM by RobertBobert

the sakuga is great so far i hope they have a healthy production schedule with this unlike with super

But...... the main staffs has been announced for a while now, alongside with Masako Nozawa reprising her role as Goku (Why the hell the voice role is still pending tho?).

Still not too sure what to think about this series aside of it screaming GT 2.0 to me lol
