Seeing the words Ookami and gets anime adaption in the same sentence... I thought the spice and wolf anime was finally getting that sequel for a second... sigh anyway a fantasy josei romance about the little red riding hood sounds a little twilighty to me. Fanfic writers be damned.

"Teen Love" or TL is a certain type of magazine that publishes only erotic stuff, predominantly straight sex "sex" where the women are dominated by men *including rape*, which is considered the selling point of the stories (if they have any lol) and are targeted for young women (rated 16+), yes, young women like these manga. O_o

All the 5-7 mins shorts that have been coming out in the last couple of years are basically TL manga adaptations which are popular amongst Japanese women. If you go to Japanese online book stores, you'll get sections dedicated for TL stuff separate from Josei. They go like this: Shounen, Shoujo, Seinen, Josei, BL/Yaoi, TL, Yuri, and Ecchi (or Hentai; Ecchi is basically used synonymous to Hentai. If one would want to look for Shokugeki no Souma for instance, they will have to search under Shounen section instead of Ecchi).

The types are assigned based on the magazines or websites these are published under for intended demographics/interests and not the actual content. So, a manga may contain sex between two teenage girls but if it is published under a shoujo magazine, it will be considered a shoujo manga (instead of a yuri manga). Also, after doing some research, I came to the conclusion that there are no such categories as shoujo-ai or shounen-ai like we have in the west. These are subdivisions of hentai where shoujo-ai refers to sex between underage girl with adult men and shounen-ai being the opposite.

Similarly, there is a common misconception that TL are Josei manga in the west when they are not. A good number of Josei manga contain sex scenes (including shoujo) but they are published in Josei magazines because they are driven by story and not just sex scenes in every other pages of each freaken chapter (which is why it maddens me when someone labels these TL manga as Josei, being a fan of Josei manga).

Nothing strange when you have a lesbian version of Beauty and the Beast, Romeo and Romeo (I'm sure you get it) and the Three Kingdoms version in the form of fights of hot beauties in easily tearing clothes. Not to mention the past Okami-san, which includes a romantic relationship between a wolf-chan and a hunter and a cute friendship with Little Red Riding Hood with dubious sexuality.
