Adams Gibbs does a superb job, and I remember he was excellent in Amagi Park as well. His performance really helps make the dub an engaging and enjoyable experience!

All of you sub elitists really need to just the hell up already. Since I know you're all to proud to touch an English dub, they read the poems in Japanese. I know Sentai Filmworks has been hit or miss on their dubs, but this one is actually solid. Luci Christian is an experienced VA, same with Adam Gibbs and Blake Shepard.

So this is a dub for a show which relies heavily on Japanese wordplay. And to top it off, we have what looks to be a director with little to no experience.

This is pretty much a guaranteed disaster. Sentai, I really wonder at times as to what thought process brings you to all these bogus ideas.

lol what madness? there is nothing wrong with dubbing anime series. if you don't like dubs then don't watch them, it's that simple.
Have you read all the previous post or should I quote them all one by one for you to read?

i did and most people are bitching for the sake of bitching. how is that related to my comment?
EDIT: some of the complaints are actually valid but your comment implies that you consider dubbing as "madness" but there is nothing wrong with dubbing shows in general.

i was excited but then realized that its' a sentai dub, damn.

and why are the sub elitists bitching about it lol? you do realize that the dub won't harm the anime in any way, right?

This is a series where the characters are Japanese playing a Japanese card game based on poems in Japan. Dub? nope, not gonna work. gonna sound terrible and unfitting. just give me season 3 madhouse. The manga content is amazing

English dub of an anime which is related to Karuta, which relies on Japanese poems..

How are they going to make it work I wonder? I'm pretty sceptical. Well, I'm not going to watch it in dub so doesn't matter.

I think I am legitimately curious how this will be done? Are they going to dub over the poems? Or are they going to speak Japanese?

If they speak Japanese for the poems and dont't translate them and actually got actors who can do it, I will say this has my stamp of approval. If not, well... yeah it sucks. But not like it erases the subbed version. The likelihood of keeping those poems in Japanese is slim to none. But still curious.

I will say though that idol anime which don't translate the songs for dubbing do annoy me.

Nobody's forcing you to read the comments complaining about dubs and dubbed VAs. Don't like them, don't read them. Last time I checked, humans have free will and can choose not to read something.

Why should we be grateful? Not everybody is an American, buys anime, wanted it licensed or like Sentai Shitworks.

People complain about dubbed voice actors and dubbed anime as if someone is forcing them to sit and watch it. Don't like it, don't watch it. Last I checked, humans have free will to choose to not watch something.

Unless the people who complain are actually being forced to watch it, in which case, dubbed anime should be the least of your problems.

Now on topic, this anime wasn't really that interesting to me, but since Luci Christian is one of my favorite English dubbed VA, I might give it a rewatch in the future.

(hasn't seen PV)

Chihaya- Uraraka(not bad, pretty good choice actually)
Taichi- Houtarou(still sounds good)
Arata- nothing I've seen in english
Kana- no I've seen in English
Nishida- Kaoru the fifth child(I'm not sure that fits)
Komano- Nothing I've seen in English.

(watches PV)

Arata and Chihaya don't sound bad, but Taichi feels EXTREMELY artificial

You can't translate poems (well). I'm usually pretty open to dubs but this one doesn't really make a lot of sense to me. Maybe if they keep the japanese for the poems.

What's actually more important here is: Does this increase the chances for s3?

There's little chance for them keeping the japanese poems. There's lots of occurences where the MCs are the ones reading them, their voices switching between japanese and english VAs would be too jarring. And asking english VAs to read japanese poems is just bound to be an epic failure. The best option in my guess would be to take actual english verses from classical authors.

And yeah, damn this news, I thought it'd be a 3rd season announcement when I saw the picture...

I'm here like: Very well, i won't ever watch a dub in my life but more importantly...

WHERE'S SEASON THREE?!!!!

Without reading the title of this news i thought...i thought that maybe...maybe...

Planned to watch Chihayafuru soon but I have a feeling that English Dub won't fit well with this show.
