Anime Adaptation of 'Drifters' Announced as TV Series, Adds OVA Episode
NBCUniversal Entertainment has announced at AnimeJapan 2016 that the upcoming Drifters anime will be a TV series airing in 2016. The AnimeJapan booth for the series features the catchphrase "Battle in a Brand New World War."
The official website has also been updated with an additional voice cast member. Mitsuru Miyamoto (Baccano!) will play the role of Murasaki, a mysterious man who is tied to the appearance of the "Drifters."
The fifth volume of the manga, which will be released on June 6, will include a condensed version of the first two episodes. The condensed OVA will be 36 minutes in duration and will be released before the TV anime begins airing.

But the mango has only 4 volumes... I hope we get a "Drifters Ultimate" someday.
Chances are they will just cover up to a certain point and then do another series a year or two latter.
I hope so. But Hirano's too slow. So, I doubt we'll get another season in one or two years.

Well that's some pretty good news. The manga is amazing, and knowing tha Madhouse will do it, gives it a big edge. One thing is for sure, it will be amazing.
I was kind of hoping the whole thing would be an OVA but I guess the good thing is that we won't have to wait a long time between episodes. I hope it's not censored too much though.
The OVA was done by Madhouse. And that was the information that was shown in the PV.

It depends on a channel and producers politics. Judging by trailer, producers don't plan to censor it so let's wait for broadcast announcement.

It's enough for a high quality 1-cour season. Didn't think they would be able to release a straight 2-cour season any way with the quality shown in the PV, assuming they want to keep up that quality like they did with Hellsing Ultimate.

It's not Madhouse behind it though, right?
Yeah, it's done by Hoods Drifters Studio, a new studio composed of mainly the same people who worked on Hellsing Ultimate iirc.
