Both manga have a similar themes of complicated and unrequited love.

Love polygons that makes your head spin! Everyone loves everyone except for when it's mutual. Drama is ensured. 

A lot of the same topics are portrayed in these two, but much more lighter in Nanashi no Asterism, without the heavy back stories and all that jazz.  

Each story includes a trio where she likes her and she likes the other one -- both include Shoujo Ai 

A teenage girl is secretly in love with her best friend, who is also a girl. She can't confess because she's afraid of ruining their friendship. Both series focus on the conflicts that may result from such a situation. They share a similar flavored mix of drama and comedy, with multiple shifts in tone within the same chapter. Both series start with a point-of-view character who is very athletic but has no interest in fashion. The uniforms worn by the main characters are also very similar. There are some tropes that are staples of otaku culture that both series use on occasion. The main difference is that the best friends in question are two high school girls in Sasameki Koto, while Nanashi no Asterism focuses on a tightly knit group of three middle school girls. read more
