I have some mixed feelings about this manga, and I'm not sure how to go about it. Hm.
The plot is pretty interesting and it goes in a very intriguing direction. I liked it a lot. Hayato is faced with his past choices and now has the chance to make the right thing. But what if by trying to do the right thing he's hurting people he cares about? It's all so complicated.
There are mentions of bullying, homophobia, and suicide, and I must say the topics were approached in a very skilled way which I appreciate.
There are also some clichés that I still don't understand why
...
authors chose to use in their stories. Who in their right mind attack people they like? Who in their right mind harass people they like? That, along with the last few chapters made me drop my rating considerably. If anything, I would have been happy without some of the chapters. While I liked Hayato and Souma (a mild liked) Souma was a bit annoying and frustrating for a bit there.
I don't know how to go around this without giving away important plot points, but there were two other situations that made reading this quite difficult. They didn't make any kind of sense, they made me cringe, and made me roll my eyes.
The manga redeemed itself in the last chapter where I got a completely unexpected surprise and only that keeps my rating for it in the good half. I didn't completely dislike the manga, but it could have been so, so much better. I'm a little disappointed at the missed opportunity.
