The story both focus on the relationship between the protagonist and her older brother's wife. The difference are: Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu: the protagonist's older brother has been passed away. / the protagonist doesn't sure about her feeling to her sister-in -law. Tatoe Todokanu Ito da toshitemo: the protagonist's older brother is still alive. / the protagonist know that she has been fall in love with her sister-in-law.

Both portray different kinds of sibling relationships in a rather realistic manner.

Both are about a non convential family that has to build a bond over time. Heartwarming stories that show how becoming a family helps the characters grow as people and how it affects their relationships outside of their home.

In both manga, we have an older female taking care of an younger girl. In haru to Midori, The women takes in the daughter of her best friend after her death while in Ani no yome, the Women takes in little sister of her husband. In these manga we can see everyday lives of these two women, overcoming the awkwardness between them and trying to take care of one another

Similarly to Shinmai Shimai no Futari Gohan, Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu gives off the homey warm feel and they both deal with the lifestyle changes as a new member is added to their family. Though, Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu relates less with food but instead addresses the emotional aspects of losing loved ones while not being over somberly. Throughout, the manga Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu keeps a light and fluffy feel.

The story of Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu is similar to the 4th chapter of Ruriiro no Yume, Nostaliga: Both story focus on the relationship between the protagonist and a female who lost her husband. In Nostaliga, the widow is the protagonist's neighbor. In Ani no Yome to Kurashiteimasu, the widow is the protagonist's sister-in-law.

The melancholy feeling about being alone is present in both and the mood overall is really similar.
