They are credited with introducing complex themes such as psychology, sexuality, and politics into shoujo manga, which until that point was primarily simple stories for little girls written by men who would migrate to male demongraphics as they gained notability. Part 4: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/32193 Otomechikku (Japanese: 乙女ちっく, lit. "maidenesque") or otome-chikku is a subgenre of shōjo manga (Japanese girls' comics) that emerged in the 1970s. Stories in the subgenre focus on the lives and exploits of protagonists who are ordinary Japanese teenage girls, a narrative style that emerged in response to the ascendance of exotic, glamorous, and internationally focused shōjo manga throughout the decade. Otomechikku is most commonly associated with manga published in the magazine Ribon, and is noted by critics for its influence on the aesthetic of kawaii. Yo besties, I've been having a challenge of reading short manga. [In Progress] I'm compiling the most impactful single volume manga I've read. I have read at least a little of all of these, and for those I havent read all of, the rep list and trigger list is for what I've read up to. I try to specify what rep and trigger warnings for these series, but I definitely miss stuff! I suggest does the dog die dot com if you have a trigger that you are worried about, as it is much more in depth than I am. I stopped describing half way through BL, yuri, and manga with LGBT+ themes that i’ve rated an 8 or higher, and/or which have left a lasting impression on me. a lot of these are highly underappreciated, so i wanted to share them. I’ve picked 7 of each, but might expand it later. anthologies, short stories collections or one shots for all the vintage shoujo short stories lovers. they are all either published in english (and still available new) or available online so you can find & read them. Spanning 6 decades, this diverse set of Shōjo and Josei manga is very much worth reading…according to some random guy on the internet. |
