In short- one of the most confusing stories I've read in a long time, but I would highly recommend it to any vocaloid fan.
It follows the story of the collection of songs to an extent (I would watch/listen to them if I were you, it would make the story a bit easier to follow) however it doesn't follow them perfectly. In fact, I was expecting certain things to happen based on the songs, but they never did. The art is wonderful, and can really create an impact during stressful moments. didn't really like. But once you understand what's going on and what the goal is, the story delves into a dark, exciting mystery. I like how they included vocaloids other than the cryptonloids, like Gumi and Gakupo, while I do wish they got more screen time. Anyway, I think that the story was interesting yet confusing and the characters were interesting and likable for the most part. Honestly, I would give it a try, considering it was only 3 volumes.
