The Mangas and Light Novels featured here must have strong sales and/or awards, or other external factors such as their publication magazine, the author's popularity, localization, availability in manga and light novel format, and any rumors or leaks.

New rule: Once the confirmed series finally releases, I will then remove them from the list and replace them. So as long as the show haven't come out from now on (7/7/2023), I will keep it on my list till it comes out.

Here are all the shoujo manga I think one should read in order to cover all bases. I organized this list by general theme, with publishing series at the bottom.

We start off with serious drama and slice of life series, then period and fantasy action and war series, then science-fiction series, then magical girl series, then series for younger audiences, then romance comedies, then drama slice of life romances, then horror and supernatural manga, and lastly, important ongoing series.

I'm currently using this list too, despite me being the one who created it!

shoujo and josei titles that may appeal more to shounen/seinen readers looking to get into the demographic but want to avoid the stereotypical shoujo romances told from the female POV

A guide for anyone looking to explore more modern shoujo and not knowing where to start and optimized for variety.

This stack includes shoujo that began in 2010-2019 categorized by genre in order to cover a multitude of subjects and feature diverse stories. I tried to feature many popular and influential series that might be useful for exploring the demographic, with a few lesser known ones to add to the genre diversity.

The genres are sorted as follows:

A collection of romance mangas that have fantasy or supernatural element in them.

These are all having romance as main or sub element in the plot. Some of the recommendations may get a bit dark but still are romance mangas.

The best way for the items chosen to be represented would be:
Something close to if Witch Hat Atelier (Tongari Boushi no Atelier) had a little older cast and a touch of romance.

Spanning 6 decades, this diverse set of Shōjo and Josei manga is very much worth reading…according to some random guy on the internet.
This list includes both short and long series. I’ve sorted them by length (with ongoing series at the bottom regardless of current length).
All series are either fully scanned or officially licensed except for Dōbutsu no Oishasan, which only has a few chapters left in its scanlation.

Just for a disclaimer: Some of these I am still reading but somehow I have come to love them and think of them often.
