Much like the other installments in this franchise, I didn't really enjoy this very much. That being said, don't turn away. If you hated the anime, there's still a chance you might like this.

Why?

Well, personally, I despised the anime myself, mostly because most of the stuff going on was not consensual and the character's motivations didn't make sense to me in the context. However, the manga clears this up a bit, because unlike the anime, Yui isn't in a harem, but with one guy whose chapters you can read exclusively. In addition to this, she is canonically a masochist. Instead of being ... the docile idiot she is in the anime, she also has her moments of defiance, which is refreshing. These few details raise the entire manga up.

Now that that's out of the way, what about the other stuff?

The story is alright. It's nothing special; it just seems like an excuse to introduce new hot guys for Yui/the reader. I didn't really understand the whole overarching plot either, but I didn't think it was worth my time to try to understand.

The art was actually pretty good in most places. All the characters were pretty attractive and the clothing and hair was drawn pretty well. It all looked pretty clean and uniform.

The characters were much better than usual. Perhaps it's because these vampires are half-vampires, but they had actual characteristics instead of just being the embodiement of kinks, which I found nice, even though there were all pretty terrible people regardless.

Overall, while this was good by any means, I think I'm getting more and more optimistic with these scores after reading and watching the rest of Diabolik Lovers.

I would recommend this if: you like romance, you like short stories, you like otome, you don't mind a little bit of dubious consent, you like biting, you like vampires, you like forceful dudes, you like reading about sadism/masochism

I would NOT recommend this if you: like clear-cut consent, want character, want plot, want something long, like normal/nice people
