Mangaby IrysBlack

A list I decided to compile of all my favourite shoujo (and maybe josei) series I've encountered, they aren't ranked in particular order.

Shoujo (romance) manga with female protagonists who don’t piss me (and you, if you relate) off and/or embarrass me to high hell with their meekness, weakness (as in needing to be saved constantly in physical/social situations), easy tears, extreme shyness when faced with even the slightest intimation of romance, and/or lack of self-restraint in doing idiotic things when jealous.

These FL have enough pride not to constantly do embarrassing things, enough boldness to stand level with or over their male counterparts, and enough inner strength not to seem constantly pitiful. And as much as possible not so obvious in emitting the “not like the other girls” vibe.

In short, these are the shoujo FL that I think can actually be respected when all is said and done (to like is asking for too much) or are at least tolerable.

Mangas that provide a(n) immersive/fluid reading experience because of their dynamic composition/panel structure/art, and well-timed & well-selected dialogue and evocative character expressions. Characters/action come to life as the reader has to do less work to “fill in the blanks”, so to speak. Dramatic effects have high impact, but the comedy (if any) is where some of these mangas really shine.

This stack is kinda like a 2-in-1 as it contains great comedies but also non-comedies; in my experience, good flow is a prerequisite for successful comedic execution in this medium.

Stack notes:
- Entries noted with “*LOL” are great comedies i.e. funny enough to make me (and hopefully you) actually laugh out loud
- Contains BL (boys love)

I haven't read yet the mangas in this interest stack, so at the moment I can't say if they are good or not.
As I read them I will sort them into the appropriate interest stacks.

Mangaby tizzytinks

a series of manga in which a human/mortal protagonist falls in love with a demon, monster, oni, cryptid, akuma, or yokai! the 'human' love interest can be a reincarnated supernatural, provided that they are/were mortal at the time at which the love story occurs. equally, if the non-human love interest becomes human by the end this will also be accepted, provided they were monstrous during the majority of their romance.

(...i wanted to name this stack 'i know he's a demon, but daddy i love him!' but tragically MAL hates fun >:( )

(updating!)

not on MAL:
Maou to Yuusha ga Yuri Kekkon Suru wo Hanashi by Arato Asato
'Story of the Demon Lord Who Wants to Yuri-Marry the Hero; exactly what it says on the tin!'

A spooky-themed stack list featuring a variety of shoujo manga: from goofy otaku vampires to the creepiest twists on your favorite fairytales, you'll find the perfect shoujo thrill for your heart here!

— This stack is sorted alphabetically, and each item includes the reason it was picked, the level of spookiness (low, medium, or high), and the languages in which the titles are available.
— Since it's tough to track every single licensing update for manga, it's likely that I might have missed some for the titles in this stack. Feel free to let me know if that's the case!
— 'Level of Spookiness' is entirely subjective, and titles marked as *medium* or *high* may be revised later.

[⚠️ For items marked as *medium* or *high* in spookiness, it's highly recommended to check MangaUpdates or similar databases for specific trigger warnings. Please read at your own discretion.]
