Super Robot Isekai in a hyper violent-sexual world in typical Go Nagai fashion. If you're familiar with Mazinger, Getter, or Jeeg then you will be familiar with many of the tropes and elements present in this manga. However, unlike previous works, God Mazinger blends that formula in the most cohesive narrative yet. While in the present day Isekai concepts are a bit played out, God Mazinger comes within a year of the original anime Isekai, Aura Battler Dunbine. quirk of dimensional travel. It's weaved into the plot elements in a more seamless way, while grounding it inside a theoretical Mazinger multi-verse. The "what if this happened?" element to God Mazinger, inside Mazinger, is a very nice touch and to readers in the 80s must have felt like a sprawling universe was beign expanded upon before their eyes.
While the later pacing does feel a bit rushed, and there are moments of typical Nagai/Dynamic Planning art weakness, the actual framing and designs in this manga top anything strictly created by Nagai before (as in, without Ken Ishikawa). The length as well serves to give us more time with the characters and feels less like a supplemental manga to an anime, and more like the primary mode of narrative communication, or at least an alternative one, more similar to the Devilman Anime/Manga split. Definitely recommended to most people, especailly those looking to dig into the evolution of manga.
