The Shogakukan Manga Award (小学館漫画賞, Shōgakukan Mangashō) is one of Japan's major manga awards, sponsored by Shogakukan Publishing. It has been awarded annually for serialized manga since 1955 and features candidates from a number of publishers. Each winning work will be honored with a bronze statuette and a prize of 1 million yen (about US$9,000). Special awards are also occasionally given out for outstanding work, lifetime achievement, and so forth.

Some manga that can make you distrust anyone's intentions, because you'll get trust issues if you do take it on face value.

(some are more loosely 'delinquent', be it important characters or elements)

(I have read at least some of all)

Number of sales and date that number was acquired from in notes for each. Some of them I have personally estimated a higher figure than the date says.

No. 162 would be Nippon no Rekishi. It's for children and I can't find it on MAL. It has 24 volumes and started in 1981, and has sold 20.2 million (March 19th, 2020).

No. 165 would be Cuffs - Kizu Darake no Chizu by Jin Tojo, and has sold 20 million (February 14th, 2022).

No. 183 would be The Tale of Genji by Waki Yamato. Couldn't find exactly which one it was she made, and has sold 20 million (May 1st, 2021).

Seinen manga is targeted to males, has action, philosophy, psychological elements, maybe some realistic romance.
That’s the common theme for this list. I will not include the popular shonen Naruto here, but will include Hunter x Hunter. That’s because HxH is dark and has deep philosophical themes. So that’s it!

People forced to abide by the laws of "the system". Willing or unwilling, whether the system be legal or illegal, whether they be victims or perpetrators, they are all characters forced to play a role in the grand scheme of things.

Will update regularly when I find more titles that I believe fit this model.

The essential "Ganjicore" taste, pretty much a super glorified version of manga I like. Also works as a "niche manga that nobody knows recommendation list."

Most of these mangas are translated, there's only a few that aren't.
Only one manga per author.

An interest stack featuring the top 20 winners of the Kono Manga ga Sugoi!" (This Manga is Amazing! aka このマンガがすごい) annual magazine for 2007 (the year this ranking started!), with female and male winners included. It's a great way to find new and interesting manga to read, and serves as a time capsule for the popular manga of each year.

(There are usually 40 total winners, but I can't track down any site listing all of them from 2007 :( )

This stack will feature both male and female category winners, alternating between the female and male winners (with the exception of first place, since Honey and Clover was the cover for the 2006 stack), from first place to twentieth place.

Note that there can be ties here (usually two-way), and if a category is missing some place (for example, missing 14th place in the male's category), it usually indicates that either its title was not revealed as per the author's request, or there was a tie.

Please feel free to comment/DM if any information is off/missing.
