In both mangas it's about students of an academy specialised in educating soldiers who fight against 'evil' although it isn't clear what the real 'evil' is in their respective worlds. The two male main characters start as beeing loners who outdo the other students. At first they only seem to care about their own goal, but later they almost start to feel attached to their comrades. Both mangas are quite dark and have interesting characters. if you like one you'll like the other as well ^^

In both mangas students are used as weapons and are made to fight against ‚evil‘ with their extraordinary abilities. In ‚Thou shall not die‘ as well as in ‚Seraph of the end‘ they develop some kind of friendship. By comparison ‚Thou shall not die‘ shows more brutality and belongs to the seinen genre while ‚Seraph of the end‘ has typical traits of the shounen genre.

Yoko Taro is the creator of Drakengard, therefore you might be interested in the sequel manga of Drakengard 3 (however, please play the game before you read this)
