Basically the SAME exact thing. Except in one the main character sees vampires and in the other the main character sees fairies. They both have Earls who fell madly in love with the main character, plus in both manga, he gets insanely jealous when she calls the butler by his real name before she calls him by HIS real name. Also, I found this really funny... Both Earls have blonde hair and seem to be "Womanizers" (If I spelled that correctly) and BOTH main characters have long auburn(?) hair, came from 'working class' and practically forced to come with the Earl. In both these stories the hero is very prince-like, so much so that he's almost out of this world. At the same time as he seems superior, he's far from perfect. The hero falls in love with the heroine first and it takes the hard-working heroine with a more average air some time to catch up. The main difference between the two manga? Kaichou wa Maid-sama! is far superior to Kuro Hakushaku in every way.

A red-headed heroine unaware of her supernatural nature is rescued from an unhappy life by the hero. A beautiful hero has a prince-like surface that hides darkness, aggression, and power. The hero holds affection for the heroine that he expresses as a proprietary and possessive claim on her. Differences? Kainushi has demons while Kuro Hakushaku has vampires. Also Kainushi wa Akuma is better.

- Supernatural (though switched where Esther is magical in Kuro vs Leo in Niehime) - Protagonist (Salphie + Esther) wants to save/help her partner - Both seem cinderella-esque where they're coming from a poor background being saved by a richer person (In Niehime it is the king, in Kuro he's an earl)

In both mangas, a poor girl is picked up by a rich (royalty in Ookami-heika) person, and must act as their fake wife. Both have similar relationships, as they cannot fall for each other (however, in Ookami-heika, the girl eventually falls for the male, but in Kuro Hakushaku wa Hoshi wo Mederu their relationship has not developed enough). However, in Ookami-heika, there wasn't really a specific reason as to choosing the girl, whereas in Kuro Hakushaku wa Hoshi wo Mederu, she was chosen because she was a dhampir, and the male wants to keep an eye on her.

In both mangas, a girl is picked up by a rich male and has to act as a fake wife. Both females are also required to train to become a proper lady. Both relationships are similar, as they are not allowed to fall in love with each other (in Hadashi de Bara wo Fume, they do, but in Kuro Hakushaku wa Hoshi wo Mederu, their relationship has not developed as so much as to be able as to see how they are doing). Both mangas do have their differences, as the main in Kuro Hakushaku wa Hoshi wo Mederu she is a dhampir, and the  read more

These romances have historical settings and supernatural elements where a noble marries a girl in part for her unique abilities which will help them. The noblemen also have a dark element to them but these also have real romance and a lot of fun comedy.

If you enjoyed Kuro hakushaku wa hoshi wo mederu, then you will love reimei no arcana. The story in reimei arcana was amazing and not cliche like most shoujo manga these days. It has a very dark tone and atmosphere in the story. The heroin has mysteroius powers in both manga.

If you liked the historical / supernatural setting of Hana to Akuma you may like Kuro Hakushaku wa Hoshi wo Mederu. These shoujo romances have a marriage between a person with supernatural origins and a human. In this newer manga it is the reverse and the girl has the abilities and the Count is human while in Hana to Akuma the nobleman is a demon. This one does not have a big age gap like Hana to Akuma so there are differences but they are both fun supernatural romances.
