This manga is apparently based on an rpg I have not played. The story seems like a slice of a bigger jrpg story line. It's a little silly and arbitrary, and I was not engaged by it at all. The setting is a mixed sci-fi and fantasy setting which I personally love, and the whole thing generally whimsical and fantastical.

Despite the silly source material, the art is amazing! I've never seen backgrounds like this in a manga, they are so detailed. There's lots of nice effects like depth of field, not to mention the line drawings themselves are intricate and well done. If you ... read manga for the art, give this a shot on that basis alone.

I hope this artist goes on to do bigger and better things, because they are massively talented.

First of all, this manga isn't a direct adaptation of PS3 RPG Ar nosurge. The story in the manga are different and takes place before the game, so essentially it's a prequel.

It's hard to recommend this manga to people who doesn't have any experience with the series since this manga will assume that the reader are already familiar with the characters and events that happens in the PS Vita game Ciel nosurge, another game from the same series that never got released in english officially.

However if you're a fan of EXA_PICO universe or Surge Concerto in particular then you should definitely check out this manga, it's ... a fun read with pretty good art and the story definitely adds more lore and world-building into the series.
