These mangas, both with around 250 chapters, have a focus of a martial arts tournament arc, and said tournament includes various martial art styles (though Kengan Ashura has more variety), an emphasis on the power of pro-wrestling, as well as an MC who's not quite your traditional fighter.

Both of these manga give equal focus on both street fighting and sanctioned matches, and depict detailed grappling and gritty action. While their characters and plots aren't that similar, both series explore similar topics and showcase many different martial arts from both ancient and modern eras. Both of these series also give a lot of love to Pro Wrestling and depict both the glamorous world of kayfabe and the real terror that comes when the iron bodies and sublime techniques of a truly dedicated pro wrestler are unleashed in a real fight.

Both of them are martial arts manga that revolve around insane fights that push the boundaries of human nature. In Tough Kiichi is fighting to become strong enough to defeat his uncle, in Garouden Bunshichi is more interested in proving his strength to himself. Both have a fairly similar story and the art is pretty similar as well so if you liked one you will like the other.

It's not enough to brutalize your opponent; you need to do it with a cocky smile and a devil-may-care attitude, and if people's got a problem with that you break their faces. Whatever the question, violence is the only answer.

Both mangas revolve around martial arts and the people who practice them while contaning plenty of graphic violence. None of the main characters from either story is what one would call "a good guy", they are driven by their ambitions, and they don't mind stepping over the bodies of their competitors. Garouden can in many ways be seen as a somewhat less character-driven and a more shallow version of Shamo.

Brutal wrestling featuring anti-heroes.

Both are by the same mangaka, and deal with similar themes such as screwed up mother/son relationships. Additionally, the creator of the original Garouden novels on which manga is based, Baku Yumemakura, is a major influence on Itagaki's writing.
