Both Main Protagonists had experienced a dark past involving their childhood friend (which was a girl). Then, they met again in highschool (In this case, the childhood friends in Watari-kun remember each other. While in Masamune-kun it's only one sided). The difference is, while Watari-kun is trying to resolve what happened in the past, Masamune-kun is trying to gets his revenge on his childhood friend. Well, I haven't read many chapters of Masamune-kun, but I have finished the Anime adaptation. So I can say that both series give a similar feeling.

Well we have a Yandere scary girl in both Mangas. In both cases the MC isn't pathetic but isn't the epitome of manliness either. Both take place in school (or better in both the characters are in school age) and in both parents play from none to minor role. Both are comedies but with a certain degree of darkness. The difference is that in Koharu no Hibi we have no harem just a bried love triangle in Watari kun we are heading for the harem root (and possible incest route?)

Both mangas have a heavy focus on the relationship between siblings. In both mangas, the MC older brother is hardworking and lives to take care of their spoiled imouto since their parents aren't around. Of course, without him noticing, some other girls fall in love with him as well. In both mangas, both the siblings have a sibling complex toward each other. The main difference between both mangas is that Himouto Umaru chan is more focus on comedy and slice of life but Watari Kun is more slice of life/drama/romance.
