Parallel Sailor Moon is a very interesting side story in the Sailor Moon manga for a few reasons. First and likely most obvious is the fact that the Inner Senshi are shown to be adults now, and have kids of their own. While this was never seen in the original manga nor the anime, and despite the fact that how canon this story is may be called into question, I like the idea that each of them were able to find happiness in a romantic partner and have children. The second and more noteworthy thing about this story is that although it seems to be

a simple "parody", it actually has some interesting parallels, which is surprising, due to both how one-off it seems and the brief nature of the story. Primarily, Kousagi seems to be not well-liked by her friends, which is a contrast to Usagi's relationship to the other Sailor Senshi, especially the Inner Senshi. Another thing to note is that the pink cat generally has a different relationship with Kousagi, being based on fear (on Kousagi's part) and intrigue. The suggestion that Kousagi is a princess of course brings many parallels to the story with the first arc, and the girls' friendships are well-defined despite the brevity. One of the things that could have been better expanded on was Chibiusa's relation to her younger sister, as it wasn't really explored at all. The "battle" also seemed somewhat nonsensical, coming out of nowhere and having a very unusual resolution, although the additional connection between cats and rabbits being 'natural enemies' was another good parallel. Overall, this story was decent, but it obviously wasn't held to the same standard as the main manga. I consider this to be a nice side venture from the Sailor Moon manga, but it's not worth seeking out on its own in particular for any reason.
