Here we have a harem manga that starts off with a bit of a twist; I'm not talking about the part where Yamato, the main character, joins a school that until the year before was for just girls. We can all name several that start like that. Unlike the typical harem, Yamoto isn't a goody-two-shoes who's nice to everyone. He's a man. He has a pair. And he isn't afraid to stand up for himself.

So then, on to the review...

Story: 6 -I've already given a little bit of background, so here's the short: the freshness of the series starts to fade after chapter 10 or ... so. Then it's a steady downhill until around chapter 20. After that, the plot sits, spinning in neutral. If you'll let me make an analogy: It revs up on occasion; you hear the engine (plot) getting ready for some action, but it never gets its ass in gear. No matter how much it seems like it's going to go somewhere, it never does. Just like that old woman at the stoplight.

You can literally skip ten or twenty chapters without missing anything significant. The author introduces new girls to tempt the main character, then writes them back out of the story after he gets bored of them. This would be fine, but the author seems to have an attention span of a goldfish. Really, characters are introduced then disappear two chapters later.

Art: 7 -It's pretty good. Not much to complain about, though the scans are small on One Manga. Characters are pretty but backgrounds lack the detail of series like Umi No Misaki.

Character: 7 -Yamato is by far the best one. He's a believable man you can relate to, the key word being MAN, as I said above. He's a boxer; he kicks ass and he knows it. Being a boxer myself, this adds another way I can connect to him.

As for the other characters... Meh. Most aren't too annoying, and as I said, the author writes so erratically that he'll probably make your most hated girl disappear once he's had enough of her, unless it's the main heroine, in which case you're out of luck.

Enjoyment/ Overall: 7 -My advice: read the first twenty chapters. If you like the snail's pace, keep on going. If you want something to actually develop, skip to chapter 81 or 82, where the mystery is explained. For everyone else... click on the Helpful button below. You know you want to.

It wasn't bad but I found too many loopholes, so it's not somehting I would recommend to guys but for girls it's pretty good since the mushy stuff is involved.
Overall this is an 8,5 outta 10 - it's not bad, it's a decent rom com (romantic comedy) and it's got its tragedy and drama but that isn't emphasised upon a lot, so it's mainly comedy. About the ending, as a guy, I felt deeply bored and wished that the manga had ended with the couple going out but the story continued which led to events which loosely closed a chance for any sequel. It wasn't ... what I was expecting. It was thought-out well in some points like in having an ending which encourages the readers and it was good. However, man, I wished the ending had more of a flare. Nevertheless, it's a decent manga to read without a doubt, so give it a go.

Open Sesame was at best an average story with a mediocre ending. The story starts out typically with a bold boy joining a school that had recently turned coed. That's about as interesting it's going to get.

Story: 5- The story is frustrating. The author set a great tone by having the boy vs. girl theme throughout the first few chapters, but dramatically changes into them doing random things together without enough reasons.

That being said, the chapters were long, and not in a good way. Having long chapters can lead to character development, plot twists or advancements, and even more dialogue. Sadly enough ... not much development or advancement occurs.

In my eyes, this manga could have been finished in a mere 20-30 chapters, and nothing would have been left out.

Art: 6- The art is fine, with the only problem being half the girl characters have literally the same hair styles, with only a few minor changes.

Character: 5- Well the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of all the characters is unrealistic. Literally everyone has a perfect personality with zero faults. You'll be hard pressed to find anyone that has any real issues, or personality problems. The author even neglects a few interesting characters by cutting them off completely from the story which was extremely disappointing. With that being said Yamato was by far the only character with any real development throughout the story.

Overall: 5- It was slow, filled with snail paced drama, and even a predictable ending. By the time I was near the end, I was trudging along trying to end this manga. If you have the time read it, but don't expect anything special.
