At first glance I thought that this manga will be just bunch of short horror stories with no plot what so ever but after reading it i realized that every story is connected in some way or another.
Story: even though story is not finished yet i can understand some small parts. It's about old japanese rituals and one town which is affected by them. I still dont understand it completely but mystery is best thing about this manga. One more intresting thing is that on the last panel of every chapter face is starting to form slowly while you going through them.

Gonna place all the cards on the table. I don't think I can continue reading this manga. Not because it's bad, far from it. Simply holding this manga feels like... a curse. It's like I'm not supposed to be reading it. Every page has a friggin' jumpscare, and every time I turn the page, I shiver in fear hoping the next page isn't gonna be another jumpscare. Of all the horror manga I've read, this has gotta be the only one that genuinely made me afraid of reading it. Sure, Junji Ito's stories are scary, but they're also mezmerizing to the point that you want

negative: The idea that there are many short stories intertwined in one universe is interesting, but it's not done well. The chapters are 3-5 pages long which doesn't allow you to connect with characters. It does start tying things together at the end, but I still don't care because I don't know much about the characters. It's like a failed attempt at Uzumaki by Junji Ito.
Positive: The art. WARNING: do not read the last personal chapters in volume 5. The author retells his struggles with a curse which spreads by him telling people about it... which he stupidly does in these chapters. Mar 12, 2023
It's been a while since I saw a good horror story. You know, something that would actually make me feel uneasy. At some point I got bored of pretty much the same looking jump scares, or agregiosu body horror. What was shocking and intriguing at first, with time, became dull and repetitive. I wanted to see a horror story that would be not only thrilling to experience, but also original and unique enough to not make me automatically think about the horrors I saw or read in the past. "PTSD Radio" has met my expectations.
I can easily call this manga as a breath of fresh ... Nov 19, 2024
PTSD Radio – Spoiler Free – Mixed Feelings
TLDR Overall: 4/10 Disclaimer: due to the nature of this work – a collection of short stories –, my normal parameters of Story, Art, Characters and Enjoyment with a weighted average won’t be applied. Instead, a global overview will be offered. PTSD Radio is but an excuse to draw creepy panels, as it lacks much of anything of horror. PTSD Radio is a one-of-a-kind manga by Masaaki Nakayama. It is a compilation of short stories that are weakly connected by a common thread. The story, in general, is not coherent and does not make much sense as a whole, even though there ... May 6, 2024
This is something special.
Horror stories are usually bland since the meat of the experience is the asmosphere, so it's always nice when you see works that break the mold when it comes to storytelling. PTSD Radio does it by a non linear narrative, with many small stories that have really creepy payoffs and build a bigger puzzle in the background. Sadly it's on hiatus, but even under those circumstances, it finds an intersting way to abruptly stop the story (for now). The formula can get a little repetitive and it can definitely break if you don't find the illustrations unnerving, but with it's fast pace it's an easy ... Aug 7, 2024
Not too good. The arts really great in this manga, the creepy imagery is very nightmarish. Besides all the monsters, the backgrounds and people are attractive. A big problem is with the story.
This is a collection of short horror stories, but many are intertwined and some characters return. The longer chapters are stronger (a good example is chapter 93, which is probably the longest chapter and is both a subversion of expectations and heartwarming. However, most of the chapters are pretty expendable. A good example is chapter 97. Only two pages, and the plot is “this random person is doing math homework and suddenly a ... Sep 7, 2024
Out of all the easily accessible horror manga in English, this seems to be the only one that can actually give you "that feeling" when reading it. This is more common in the first few books, and the later half of the series (if we count where it is on hiatus as the end) being a bit more of a standard formulation of the scary concepts flirted with in the first books. The first half of the series as such is much better. Overall, enjoyable to read and a superior horror experience to Junji, Umezz, Hino, etc. Those are sometimes more stylistically interesting as a

I thought to leave a review since I've seen only one so far. I have read 6 volumes so far and have mixed opinion on the manga.
Pros: shattered storyline works well - short stories entangling each other and gradually connecting to main plot which is about curse, atmosphere is dark and tense sometimes, art is done nicely. Cons: too many short stories go like this - a character thinks something is watching him, shrugs it off and it ends with a shadow smiling, even if plot progresses the shadow moves to new place and same thing happens again; many creatures which are supposed to be ... |
