The story line is original, and well thought out. While there has been other story's about Girls trapped in an all boys boarding school, I do not believe the cause of that has ever been done before. To be honest the couple is just a little too perfect, and the author could have added a bit more conflict on Kunio's part. All the conflict in the story seems to be Solly focused around Momoko.

The characters have great depth to them. Momoko is your average girlie-girl, who loves shopping, hanging out with her friends, and talking about boys, but by the end of the Manga ... she is forced to change all that, or be expelled. Her brother is self centered, and doesn't seem to care what his family think of him. Although it's not like his mother has ever really given him the chance to do anything he wanted before. Kunio worries to much, and doesn't like to be bothered by anyone, but doesn't like to show any of it. Although when it come to those close to him he doesn't waist any time.

All in all I loved the manga, flaws included. And I recommend it to anyone looking for love, or just looking for a Good love story. Boku ni Natta Watashi is one of my favorite shojo manga, and I hope it will be one of yours too.

Frankly, when I get to reading a shoujo manga I don't really expect depth of story and/or character, and those low expectations are rarely wrong. It's the same with this particular manga. The plot of a girl entering an all-boys school pretending to be a boy is nothing new. The fact that she is a rather complacent, passive character opposed to a strong, protective male lead is also nothing new. Basically, Boku ni Natta Watashi offers nothing new. There are hints of examining the established gender roles, but the mangaka does not go into it deeper - she keeps it superficial - as if all ... there is in being a girl is wearing frilly dresses and showing off your tits (if you have anything to show). The major resentment I normally have with gender bender is that, so far, I have not found a manga that offers a deeper psychological insight into what it means to be a boy or a girl, and I was somewhat disappointed that Shimaki Ako opened these questions but did not pursue the answer.
All of that being said, I absolutely adore Shimaki Ako's art. It's beautiful, simple, yet expressive, and despite being far from original both her stories and her characters are amusing and they offer a reasonable amount of fun. On that superficial level, I truly enjoyed this manga, and if you're fine with a superficial, cute love story, you should just go for it and read Boku ni Natta Watashi. However, if you are easily annoyed by an author taking the easy way out, you should just forget about reading this one.

Boku ni Natta Watashi is funny and well drawn but that's about as far as it goes. Momoke is naive and very stupid, to the point of being embarrassing. She has no backbone but is very stubborn and of course is too nice for her own good. Itou is the perfect man(that's right, not one single flaw), which of course makes him actually boring and gives you a tooth ache after a while.
The whole series makes you roll your eyes and shake your head. Nothing about this series is really possible and it's mostly just ridiculous. I'd never read this manga again ... because I barely got through it the first time. Just don't expect too much from this short series.
