This manga was indeed something. It was a one-shot, and I wish it had more chapters, but at the same time I got the feeling that one chapter was enough. It was painful and yet beautiful. So beautiful that I felt the need to write my first review.
The art was amazing, and the plastic surgery theme was new for me. The main character was interesting, but I wish I could see more of her development.
"Karisome no Hana" warmed my heart, and I highly recommend it to ... anyone looking for a good drama/josei.

STORY: 7/10
Being a one-shot, there isn't a ton of material to assess so pardon if my review seems a bit lacking. Alright so, if you are familiar with the mangaka's (Chihiro Harumi) other works (Velvet kiss, Koi wo Suru, etc) then you'll know what to expect. Her ability to weave together a love story/romance with dark undertones is extraordinary. Sure, when it comes down to it the story is basically a "man meets woman under strange circumstances and they develop feelings for each other" sort of story. However, the way the story flowed and was directed (for lack of a better word) was spot on. ... Of course being a one-shot it will not be as well-developed as proper works but it by no means crippled this manga in any way.


ART: 7/10
No complaints here per se. The artwork complimented the overall mood of the story and didn't cause any unnatural imbalances. The characters had resemblance to Chihiro's other works- the female lead to be exact. She was definitely a Chihiro Harumi drawn female character by design. What I did love was the expressions of our characters. You can really sense the sadness within the female's eyes and the somewhat distraught of our male lead. Overall, the art style was really realistic and of high quality.


CHARACTERS: 7/10
Not much character development obviously. The story focuses on the pair of leads with no supporting characters to fill in the gaps (read: get in the way). The majority of the story is spent on the interactions of our two main leads and it excelled in that subject. The characters' personalities, actions and dialogues were very natural and humane.


ENJOYMENT/OVERALL 7/10
For a quick read, no harm no foul. A short and sweet story between man and woman. Overly simple yet executed perfectly. Word of advice for future readers: you seriously shouldn't expect so much from a 30-something page one-shot. If you come in super hyped and anxious after reading the mangaka's famous [Velvet Kiss] or something, you'll definitely leave feeling a bit unsatisfied after reading Yoru wo Tomenaide. Don't let that cloud your judgement, it is a pretty good read all in all.

Ok so I opened all the chapters of this manga for a while now, it kept getting push back because I was seeing more interesting mangas to read, it's been 3 weeks that the chapters are on the tabs in my computer (I just sleep my computer for weeks, I know it's bad but I have plenty of tabs I need to sort out before shutting it down), so when I finally pick this up, I forgot that it was one of Harumi Chihiro works, I only know that it was a Romance manga, so I expect it to be what I expect romance manga ... should be, I didn't recall the artstyle as it was kinda generic for me, but in the first story (1st chapter) when the intercourse scene happened, I immediately knew this style is one of that Harumi Chihiro's and I was instantly disappointed, I was expecting a clean Romance manga, you know, she (Harumi) didn't need to put intercourse scene in every manga just for it sell well, she could just turn this manga into romance focus one, but no, is she really that obsessed in intercourse? come on it ruined the vibes of the manga, I was digging it at first but then boom puts and unnecessary intercourse scene right there. Chapter 2 was bad, really bad, but it is realistic, and then there's chapter 3, you know after reading chapter 3 I realize that this manga is for depressed dramatic people If you like to be depressed then read this but for me? not my cup of tea, also gotta give Harumi a credit for not putting intercourse scene in some of the chapters (that's my main complain about her works).

Now like her (Harumi) other work "Cutie Lips" this is a collection of different stories, you know in the beginning I was expecting a medium to heavy drama since it's a romance manga, that's why I can tolerate some of the chapters, I even like some of them but unlike in Cutie Lips, majority of the stories are bad to me, not because it's depressing but because most of them contains some of the things which I don't like (namely simps, cheating and NTR) also the unnecessary intercourse or naked girl scenes that's like present on majority of the stories, which is why I rate this as 4.

Yeah... It was good... Didn't feel a satisfying sense of closure with this one. It looked like it had potential to develop into something more interesting, but it's a pity it wasn't given that chance. Still, I see the art is relatively consistent. Came here after reading Velvet Kiss and am not disappointed!

Sim ... Foi bom ... Não sinto uma sensação satisfatória de encerramento com um presente. Parecia que tinha potencial para evoluir para algo mais interessante, mas é uma pena que não foi dada essa oportunidade. Ainda assim, ao ver a arte é relativamente consistente. Vim aqui depois de ler Velvet Kiss e não ... estou decepcionada!
