Synopsis

Berry Shirayuki is a cheerful and optimistic 12-year-old girl who has just been accepted into a private girl's school after studying hard for her exams. Aside from friendly but unwanted comments from her next-door neighbor Tasuku Meguro, it seems as if nothing can go wrong for this newly-made middle schooler! After the first day of school ends, Berry is saved from tripping over stairs by a blonde-haired boy, and ends up following him to Café Mew Mew in hopes of thanking him. While in the cafe, Berry accidentally stumbles upon a shining statue that projects visions of a cat and rabbit—who enter her body just before she metamorphosizes into a white-costumed magical girl with bunny ears and a cat tail!

Following a series of strange incidents which lead her to discover amazing hearing and jumping skills (as well as a craving for carrots), Berry realizes that she has become a new member of Tokyo Mew Mew—a group of magical girl superheroes with both animal-like and supernatural abilities! Berry needs to take her new responsibility as a protector of the peace seriously, because she is now a target for Tokyo Mew Mew's new enemy... and they are on the hunt for some fresh rabbit.

Mixed Feelings
This was a story with very cute drawings, but it echoes Tokyo Mew Mew and was not very creative. The life of Berrii or Berry is simply a modified version of Ichigo's, and she takes over the entire story. This isn't a masterpiece manga, and the only real reason I feel you could read it for is looking at the artwork.

Mixed Feelings
There were so many negative points here. No plot until chapter 8, the 3rd-to-last chapter. What gives? I pick up a sequel series, I expect a good plot, not some magical girl-slice of life mishmash. Thee poor attempt at a romance sidestory didn't help. Losing Rieko Yoshida was definitely a big blow to the writers. I would not reread this at all. The only real positive thing was maintaining the art style from the first series. This series was lucky to be rated a 6.

Absolutely TERRIBLE. The loss of Yoshida Reiko really impacted the series. Tokyo Mew Mew was great, but a la mode is NOT. Berii (or, as Tokyopop calls her, Berry) is as bad of a Mary Sue as you find in most of fanfiction.net, characters acted out of character, and Ichigo is shuffled offscreen and cripplingly depowered to give the Playboy Bunny a chance to hypnotize her friends into loving her. Ikumi Mia's art is still top-quality, but the story greatly suffered. Do yourself a favour and stick with the original series.
