Mystery manga that contain supernatural/mythological/folklore beings. May only make mention of these things or may actually be set in a world where they're real. "Beings" includes creatures, spirits, youkai, gods e.t.c. People with supernatural powers are not included.

Only series focusing on or centred around said beings have been added. Only the first entry has been added if it's part of a series and manga only.

Most of them are horror, but there are some exceptions, so I had to put the word in brackets.

I've read most of these, so they're available somewhere to read, though possibly incomplete.

The Meiji era spanned from 1868 to 1912, a period of modernization for Japan. When after 250+ years of self-imposed isolation (Sakoku), Japan came into contact with Western culture and got inspired by it. This period combines Japanese traditional culture with 19th century and early 20th century Western culture.
