I don't exactly make it a secret that I hate 4-koma works, despite loving GL, and GL having this weird fascination with making gay newspaper comics. This one is, unfortunately, not an exception, even if I always hold out hope that one will wow me.
Art: 5/10
Not an absolute chicken scratch, but not much better than that, either. Sometimes, the author does a good job on backgrounds, other times the characters are so ugly it's physically painful to look at. Overblown, cliche reactions are to be expected, but overall, there's literally nothing original about the art. If someone told me the mangaka drew this from looking

at one of those 'how to draw like anime' tutorial books, I might actually believe you.
Story: Nothing/10
Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san is a generic fluff thing with essentially no plot that I could discern. Given it's a slice of life romantic comedy, I would be shocked if it had one, to be honest.
Character: 3/10
What characters? Animal tropes are where it's at. If you have ever seen a generic series about Japanese school girls, you know these characters. Apply a thin veneer of what furries think about animals, and another banger of a manga is ready to go.
Enjoyment 2/10
I don't know who this manga is for, to be honest. As a bi person, its approach to gay stuff was just too inane, to juvenile, for me to enjoy. Was this made for dudes who fetishize lesbians, and therefore have insanely low standards? Probably, but I'm amazed it held even their attention, due to the lack of smut. Was this made to collectively lower the standards of GL fans as a whole? If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd say yes. Either way, this manga represents an affront to the concept of romantic comedy. The leads lack romantic tension beyond the most juvenile of 'hur hur boobs' humor, and what passes for humor... didn't translate well. If I'm any judge, like many 4-koma works, it's essentially newspaper comic levels of comedy, and therefore enough to warrant a vague smile when viewed by a native speaker. To a non-native speaker, it's bafflingly unfunny.
Overall 3/10
If you find anything involving gay girls to be precious/hot, regardless of literally anything they do/say, then you will unquestionably enjoy this. Otherwise, you'll likely feel mold growing in your brain with each passing page, as it slowly rots to death from lack of activity. I skipped ahead at one point, to see if I was missing anything, and I swear, it goes literally nowhere in three and a half volumes. I only made it this far through sheer force of will, and even then, every fibre of my being told me I was wasting my time. The fact that this got an anime adaptation, but stuff like Run Away With Me, Girl and This Love That Won't Reach haven't thus far is an absolute travesty. Essentially, I'm here to say, if you're like me and you don't generally enjoy 4-koma romcoms, this one won't be the one to change your mind. It's as generic as they come, so don't waste your time on it, like I did.
