Opposite sides of the Ishin-Shishi/pro-Shogunate clash of the Bakumatsu and, in Ruroken's case, into the Meiji period. Because Ruroken deals with the aftermath of pro-sonno joi activism and SIMP centres around Bakumatsu era Shinsengumi action, it's like they tell the same story from opposing sides. For anyone interested in Japanese history, it might be fun to try a different perspective.

Young kids join the Shinsengumi (before they got that name, in Blue Wolves' case), make friends, and have their worldviews shaken up by the bloody and morally ambiguous battles they witness. Blue Wolves really feels like Peace maker for a new generation.

Both manga revolve around the Shinsengumi. Peace Maker has quite an in depth story of the Shinsengumi, more so than Because Goodbyes Are Coming Soon, which only focuses on the teams last last dying moments. Both manga are also quite historically accurate, although in Peace Makers case it is balanced by fiction. The same characters also feature in both manga, and although they are of different interpretation, you can spot a lot of similarities. Both are outstanding manga and are definitely worth reading.

Both are about the Shinsengumi, and share some characters (Hijitaka, Souji). Have a theme of revenge.
