"Without the overwhelming sense of self love, there will never be the birth of an unconditional love." - Graiya Greif
SHORT REVIEW: Read the novels if you have time and nothing else to do, otherwise you might be disappointed because all the progress happens in last 3 volumes, so you basically read all 12 volumes and have 0 answers to infinite questions.
LONG REVIEW:
VOLUME 1 AND 2: covered by the anime, introductions to Little Garden and characters, MCs fighting low level demons.
VOLUME 3, 4, 5: higher ranking demons appear, MCs fight them to see just how strong they are
...
VOLUME 6, 7: a new, strong enemy (organization) appears
VOLUME 8: things might be more than just a coincidence, strongest enemy so far appears
VOLUME 9: is actually a collection of short stories that are not quite necessary to know to follow the story
VOLUME 10: pieces of a puzzle are revealed, from this volume on the story gets much better and more interesting
VOLUME 11, 12: you can put together some of the pieces but the entire puzzle is still definitely not done.
Bottom line:
- cons: certain main character is so overpowered that he doesn't get any stronger through all 12 volumes, meanwhile other 2 characters keep getting stronger and are developing. There is way too many mythologies/gods/demons/ideas involved and you never really fully understand either of them. All 12 volumes are more of a extremely lenghty introduction to story line in the sequel - Last embryo.
inbetween: a lot of lolis
- pros: many, many gods/demons/mythologies etc make the story quite interesting, albeit confusing at some moments, main character is funny and smart, story has some interesting concepts, the games in Little Garden are pretty interesting.
