The Manga Taisho (マンガ大賞) is an annual Japanese manga award. The award is limited to series with eight or fewer collected volumes, in order to promote newer titles. The nominating committee, composed of staff members from bookstores, each initially vote for five series and the titles with the top ten number of votes become the official nominees of the year. The Japan Media Arts Festival is an annual festival held since 1997 by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. The festival begins with an open competition and culminates with the awarding of several prizes and an exhibition. ![]() ![]() Critics & Connoisseurs was a club that was founded in 2008 and ended club activities on the 31st of 2022. ![]() ![]() Manga that capture genuine stories or experiences of real people. Fictional biographies such as Tezuka's Buddha are not within the scope of this list. ![]() ![]() Of course, this list is subjective, but these are mangas that really stood out to me due to refreshing story elements, subject matter, or unique characters. The manga in this article show us what is going on in the creator’s head when they make these stories for us. ![]() ![]() These are some sad and emotional manga that have moved me and was able to make me cry. Some of these manga might be completely bleak, some of them have an uplifting tone to them. Hopefully it can strike a chord with you as well. |
