Both are manga by Taiyou Matsumoto, therefore, they have similar art styles and character designs, as well as story elements. Both anime focus on a duo of main character with contrasting personalities. The plots also contain a lot of metaphors and character development.

Created by Taiyou Matsumoto, both manga have similar art and method of storytelling. They deal with existentialist themes and focus on kids who let their imagination run free, while also showing their everyday struggles and the harshness of life. They both have coming of age elements, and create a very similar atmosphere, conveying similar emotions to the reader.

These 2 manga are master works of Taiyou and Otomo Both manga have a quite similar setting in a fictive which riddled with corruption, inequalities and a premonitory sense of apocalypse. The protags are both young out-of-law people with quite opposite personalities. Although both abords the coming-of-age part, B&W abords more about it, Akira goes with a more "Xtreme" manner

Kaneko Atsushi are following the footsteps of Mastumoto Taiyou here with this art driven story inspired just as much from western super hero comics as manga. If Deathco is as deep as Tekkon Kinkreet is yet to be seen.

Both stories contain children/Teens being abnormaly strong fighting/brawling skills and don't give in, even challenge, if a person with power tries to surpress them. The mainprotagonists in both stories are experts in surviving their rough world. But i think you liked the Tekkon Kinkreet or Ares not only because of their fights, it's also the vibe that includes the art style, the character design, their own fashion and just being very clever while being goofy and stupid. I hope you try one of each!

Both are unconventional yet compelling stories that take place in a world similar yet significantly different to our own and show a definite influence by European comics (French for BLAME!, Italian for Tekkon Kinkreet).
