The Kodansha Manga Award (講談社漫画賞, Koudansha Manga Shou) is an annual award for serialized manga published in the previous year, the event is sponsored by the publisher Kodansha. It is currently awarded in three categories: shounen, shoujo, and general. The awards began in 1977, initially with categories for shounen and shoujo. The first award for the general category was in 1982, and the first children's category's award was in 2003. The children's category was merged into the shounen and shoujo categories starting in 2015. Critics & Connoisseurs was a club that was founded in 2008 and ended club activities on the 31st of 2022. A list of Seinen manga I think are great and can recommend. Mostly drama/psychological but has a little bit of other stuff. The Japan Media Arts Festival is an annual festival held since 1997 by Japan's Agency for Cultural Affairs. The festival begins with an open competition and culminates with the awarding of several prizes and an exhibition. seinen manga that features serious themes and is not afraid to use things that make the reader uncomfortable Mystery manga that contain supernatural/mythological/folklore beings. May only make mention of these things or may actually be set in a world where they're real. "Beings" includes creatures, spirits, youkai, gods e.t.c. People with supernatural powers are not included. Worldbuilding - "the process of constructing a world, originally an imaginary one, sometimes associated with a fictional universe." These kinds of manga are usually set in a fantasy and/or sci-fi world, and excel at establishing & showcasing the rules/history/economy of their fictional universe. Seinen manga is targeted to males, has action, philosophy, psychological elements, maybe some realistic romance. In the world of the anime and manga industry, it is rarely seen that a female manga artist comes at the top of the chain. Most of the popular anime series are written by male authors. One Piece, Naruto, AOT, Jujutsu Kaisen, all these notable manga’s are from male artists. And, there is no end to this list. But, what about anime by female manga artists? just trust me bro This is for your friends who only know manga through anime or only relate it to shonen and H, it’s not necessarily directed at a “manga beginner” but for someone who wants to understand it better as a medium.
