Recommendations

Both staples of the Garo magazine, Tsuge was a big influence for Shin'ichi abe who reused his style of ‘watakushi manga’ (comics of the self) in his work. Close to an autobiography, they make use of their own memories and emotions to create their stories, although Abe is clearly more overt in this genre, going as far as having the author facing the reader and presenting himself in the introduction. They both share a similar artstyle and leaving a lot to small details and to the unsaid that make up our relations.
