If you like a depressing yet beautiful love story then Lament of the Lamb is a nice short 7 volume manga. The art work is simple and relaxed but conveys the emotions required for this kind of story. Similar to SaiKano in the sense of depressing nature (god that sounds awful doesnt it?!) but both are tragic and both have lovely art work and will make you have a lump on your throat as youre reading through the series. I love manga like this, good length at 7 volumes and very engaging.

both series have a soft almost watercolor style of art, dark atmospheres, beautiful sad and melancholy female leads, and strange and obsessed male leads. both are about death and all the strange feelings that surround it. both are very enjoyable if you're happiest when it rains...

Though Sakura Gari is often seen as yaoi alone, the heart of the story is actually very much centered on psychological abuse and its after-effects, and no other story treats such an issue better than the manga Lament of the Lamb. Both stories also spotlight forbidden relationships and show just how damaging they can be. Though these manga have despicable, flawed casts, there is a touch of hope to both stories, even in the darkness of the characters' situations and actions.

Both are very dark mangas with horror elements. Both have a quite dramatic and original take on vampires, and both include death and complex relationship.

Both manga has similar themes. There is no exact but some similarity can be seen after reading these two manga.

Both plots are almost identical since Hitsuja no Uta is about two siblings that suffers from an extremely rare disease and Sakuranbo Syndrome is about a university student that suffers from an extremely rare disease. The two series focuses on the main character’s life.

Both are supernatural/fantasy (WE more so) stories that examine the obsession of a teenage/young adultish main character's love for a deceased one as it transfers to a "heir," the one who will resurrect the dead person's image. Lament of the Lamb provides a more detailed picture of immediate life for the characters if, upon realizing what's happening, the "replacement" character accepts his role; World Embryo kind of goes the negative direction, and has a more involved look at the consequences of the action (as necessitated by the plot; WE is more of a save the world type story) in terms of regret and  read more

Both are dark, morbid, and down to earth takes on legendary creatures.

Both are about incest. Both have a very sad situation.

If characters being vampires / lusting for blood presented as a drama with a subdued sexualised edge is your cup of tea, read Lament of the Lamb whilst waiting for Happiness. LotL has more of an emphasis on family, with a strong incestous edge. The mood, with a dark undercurrent and sexual tension, that both authors are able to create without doing anything outlandish is very similar and perhaps unique to them.

Both works feature entertaining stories of vampires accompanied a strong yet subtle romantic plot that plays along the lines of being a taboo subject. The character dynamic between Kuroe and Misaki share many characteristics with the Chizuna siblings'.

Both very good plot and somewhat dark :)

An all-consuming, intoxicating lust for young teenage women with moles beneath their left eyes. That is what these two are about. Tomie is an episodic series built around a regenerating monster of a seductress that ruins any male she encounters. A horror series about the ultimate narcissist, basically. Lament of the Lamb revolves around an incestuous, vampiric bond shared between a previously separated brother and sister; the brother needing to drink his sister's blood. The line between 'sister' and 'lover' gradually becomes distorted by the sister's mature / strange allure.

Both are seinens, and have a similar tone...slightly unnerving, mild horror. Vampire themes. Similar settings. Have a slightly brushy, dark art style.
