Mangaby Fario-P

Here is a list of manga for those who can't get enough of fairies, faeries, fair folk, or however else one describes the fae! Searched far and wide for these, but still possibly not a definite/complete list.

March 14th - March 16th, 2023: thanks for putting this on the Interest Stacks front page, hell yeah

November 4th, 2023: second time on main Interest Stacks page babyy

January 17, 2025: I am flattered that this would be featured on the main IS page again. Thank you.

Uber-kawaii Y2K girly pop manga you HAVE to read if you wanna feel like the I T G I R L...or if you just really like silly kiddie shojo from the 2000s like me. =)

A lot of sparkles, a lot of frills, a lot of bright colours, a lot of elementary-level girly goodness that you probably have come across if you were a wee manga reader from the mid-to-late 2000s--if that's what you're looking for, it's here.

A portion of these titles are more on the 子供向け (kodomo-muke) side--that is, they're aimed towards the younger sub-demographic within the greater shojo demographic, and that's evident by the simplistic or even downright goofy plots in contrast to the ornate, super-stylized nature of their art (TLDR; Empty brain like shiny pink thing with no substance--and that is nothing to be ashamed of,) but in general, they're all fun reads, no matter what age you are.

though i prefer mean faeries, modernised cute fairies are also super enjoyable to read about!! here is a stack of manga that feature these fairies, helpful characters that seek to assist or bless humans. to qualify, they must feature at least one named fae character OR have significant bearing on the plot.

please see my other interest stack for malicious faeries!!

not on MAL:

Do You Know A Fairy? by Yayami and Jabhwa
- the fairies in this one seem to be reminiscent of familiars or guardian angels, in that they protect their respective humans, and do not reveal their true names to strangers. they also cannot eat food unless it is a 'gift' or 'offering' and have to follow specific rules of behaviour. these guardian fae are also similar to shugo chara, in that they reflect the thoughts and intentions of their linked human. im not sure if there's any specific sphere of folklore being alluded to here, as there's all sorts of international referencing, but its a cute story!

Dear Fairy, Please Contract With Me by Hyedoll and Whale
- I wasn't able to find many chapters of this in English unfortunately, but if I can I'd love to read more as the concept is so unique! a young boy being abused witnesses the birth of a fairy from a flower that grows suddenly in his cell. she names him and promises to protect his smile. ren is (quite literally) a flower fairy, and from the promo oneshot its implied she can cast magic, change her size, and can choose when and for who she is born? it looks super interesting, not folklorish exactly, but its not a take ive seen so id like to see where it goes!
