This story is hard to reveiw, It gives me mixed feelings frome the start until the end. It’s rough and toxic but can be subtle and tender and most importantly it will gives you headache.

Story itself is up and down I don’t know… The action and reaction might not always make sense. Great pacing fast and slow when it needs to. Comprehensable coherent story.

Characters
It’s truely a story of an unstable low self-esteem gay couple ever(in both good and bad ways) One is abusive and self-destructive the other is submisive and 404 not found self respect. Ofcourse this is a toxic yaoi.
One thing that make this manga so unsastifying is because character barely learn their lessons. They keep coping with same complex the same way over and over again. The abuse abusing and hurts themself, The abused got hurts but still deep in love with the abuser. They finaly learn to be normal once then back to be weird again and this happens like 3 time atleast. As a fan of toxic yaoi I’m tired bro.
Hornig, king’s lover he’s a monolith he instantly falling love with the king after he got r-word by him(yes shojo not romanticizing r-word challange) He did everything, endure everything for Ludwig’s unstable ass but Ludwig did nothing to try to understand Hornig. He’s not understand himself He does not understand others and he stay like that until the end.
Good thing is auther is so good at making charismatic character like Ludwig that’s it.

One of its best quality is its narative. It gives feeling of elegant royal dreamy peom-like it is like watching opera which makes atmosphere of this manga one of a kind.
Great pacing and paneling It’s good ngl. Subtle and powerful expression of characters too.
summaries
It’s a shame even if I could look past the amount of r and sa this story suffer from lack of character development the most. This could be way better and memorable if characters actually learn something along this tragic and hurtfull story. It’s kind of a historical toxic yaoi fantasy rather than a thought out / decent love story.
