They are not gay, and do not wish to become women. They are just regular men who happen to enjoy cute things, cooking, cleaning, etc. In general things that are usually regarded as feminine.

This list is derived from The Anime Man's "The OFFICIAL Top 100 Manga Of All Time (According To The Internet) Is Actually Surprising..." video. The video goes over the results of an online poll that he created in which people could vote for their favorite manga series.

The poll, taken in 2018, garnered over 160,000 votes from the international anime community. This is a complete list of the results along with the total vote count for each series. The list is in descending order, meaning the manga with the most votes come first.

Some entries are omitted because they don't have a MAL page. This is usually because they're web comics or made outside of Japan. Those omitted entries are listed here:

Note: In the video, Joey accidentally counts all votes for Seven Deadly Sins and THE Seven Deadly Sins separately, meaning that there are technically 99 manga in this list. THE Seven Deadly Sins garnered 271 votes, tying it with #89 (Aku no Hana), hence why there is no #90 on this list.

Here are all the shoujo manga I think one should read in order to cover all bases. I organized this list by general theme, with publishing series at the bottom.

We start off with serious drama and slice of life series, then period and fantasy action and war series, then science-fiction series, then magical girl series, then series for younger audiences, then romance comedies, then drama slice of life romances, then horror and supernatural manga, and lastly, important ongoing series.

I'm currently using this list too, despite me being the one who created it!

shoujos that I couldn't stop reading after I started (doesn't always mean that they are unproblematic because well we're talking about shoujo and josei here, there's always at least something minor that can bother you BUT I promise these aren't the worst ever)
