In both series, the main female protagonist finds themselves in a complicated affair that also involves identity issues. Both series has romance although presented in a different style. In Moe Kare!!, it follows the standards of a shoujo story. In Bokura no Koi wa Shi ni Itaru, it takes on a darker tone with mature themes and even an obsessiveness male stalker. Expect a lot of drama to unfold as their story progresses and we learn more about the characters' roles.

On top of the fact that both series made by the same author, both series are psychological shoujo where the relationship depicted between the heroine and her love interest is unhealthy and abusive. It portrays the negative outcomes of a relationship that's gone horribly wrong, and none of the abuse are portrayed in a positive light at all. Aishite Kudasai has the love interest to be possessive albeit a bit mentally unstable while in BokuKoi, the love interest is doing it out of hatred for the heroine and desire to see her suffer.
