Both are about the kind of things people eat after work.

Each chapter allows you to get a glimpse into a customer's life story by what they want to eat or drink.

Both are great if you like food manga- Shinya Shokudou is more a slice of life dealing with the problems of customers whereas Oishinbo has more drama.

Both manga are about a diner with no set menu cooking for people and learning about their lives. Shinya Shokudo is in the entertainment district and has many marginalized characters with dramatic problems while Tamako Teishoku has more average customers with daily dramas.

A man runs a late-night business by himself and takes pride in going the extra mile to provide his customers with a service tailored to their needs. Each chapter peers into the life of a customer who enters the protagonist’s place of business as he listens to their stories. Despite his interest in the people he crosses paths with, the protagonist reveals very little about himself to the customers and rarely (or never) says his real name.

Both manga are about serving food or drinks to troubled customers and relieving their worries.

Both are slice of life with cooking and have a similar heartwarming vibe. Shinya Shokudou has more pathos. Gohan no Otomo has recipes at the end of each chapter.

If you want a more realistic set of customers and problems and more interesting food after finishing Isekai Shokudou, give Shinya Shokudou (Midnight Diner) a try.

If you wished Motoka no Shokudou had more cooking, go read Shinya Shokudou. Although not set in space, the attention to human dramas is unmatched.

Bentouya-san focuses more on a budding romance, but like Shinya Shokudou, it explores real human relationships and problems through the lens of food.

More cooking manga for you to enjoy.

Both are about bringing people together with cooking- Shinya Shokudou is more humble cooking in a diner and Kinous Nani Tabeta is more gourmet home cooking.

In many ways the themes of these two series are opposites. Kodoku no Gourmet is all about the solitary pleasure of eating by oneself, whereas Shinya Shokudou is about how food can connect people and tell their stories. Both are food manga you will enjoy, though.

Both revolve around small stores run by an owner. Neko Ramen is a 4-koma so the pace is more boom boom laugh.

Both are cooking manga. Cooking Papa includes a recipe with each chapter.

There are moments of bittersweet nostalgia in Shinya Shokudou that resonate similarly to Gokudou Meshi. Both deal with people at the margins of Japanese society and their relationships through food.
