I started reading Eunuch of the Harem out of curiosity, but I’m not sure how to feel about it even now. The main character being a eunuch (literally dickless) makes the whole romance aspect feel kind of pointless. I get that it’s supposed to be different, but it’s hard to emotionally invest in the relationship when there’s a clear physical and emotional boundary that won’t ever be crossed.
Elza, the main female lead, feels more like she’s manipulating the MC to get closer to the emperor rather than genuinely caring for him. It’s frustrating to see kisses and romantic scenes between them when deep down, you

know it’s not leading anywhere. Especially considering that Elza is part of the emperor’s harem, it just makes things feel hollow.
The art and historical setting are pretty good, and there are some intense political moments. But if you're looking for an actual romance or satisfying character connection, you might end up feeling a bit empty like I did.
